Join Play England today and support us in our work to increase children's freedom to play.

As a member you will be the first to receive the latest news from Play England and the wider world of play, receive discounts on Play England publications, events and seminars, and have the opportunity to participate in networks and forums. Most importantly you will be part of a growing movement campaigning for children's play!


Who should join?

Anyone who's interested in children's right to play! Whether you're an individual or organisation, add your voice and help shape the future of play in England.

How to apply

Membership is open to all those with an interest or involvement in children's play. To apply, download and complete the Membership application form [33KB DOC]. 

 

Charter for Children's Play

Members are required to show their commitment to children and young people's freedom to play by endorsing the Charter for Children's Play. The charter is the underpinning document of all Play England's work.

Supporter

Cost: Free

Open to everyone who wants to be part of a growing movement campaigning for children's play. To apply, download and complete the Membership application form [33KB DOC] or sign up online.

Benefits include:

  • Receive the regular PlayToday e-newsletter, the monthly Children's Play Update and be the first to find out about Play England's events and seminars.
  • Find out about opportunities to support children's play where you live, as Play England can link you up with  local play providers or your regional play association.  
  • Find out about the Children's Play Information Service and other free services to support children and young people's play.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in networks and forums, and in policy working groups or campaign advisory groups.
  • Most importantly, you will be part of a growing movement campaigning for children's play. As a Play England supporter you can contribute to our responses to Government policy and get involved in our campaigns to make sure that all children have the freedom to play throughout childhood.

Individual membership

Cost:£15

Individual membership is open to anyone who signs up to the Charter for Children's Play and wants to make a personal difference so that all children in England have the freedom to play. To apply, download and complete the  Membership application form [33KB DOC].

 

Who should join?

  • Mums and dads, carers, grandparents, aunties and uncles and other family members.
  • Professionals who support environments where children play - Playworkers, play rangers, after school staff, holiday playscheme staff.
  • Community leaders, councillors and politicians.
  • Anyone who works with children and young people - Teachers, youth workers, social workers, childminders.
  • Anyone who shapes the environments children grow up in - Planners, architects, designers and developers.
  • Those that look after the welfare of children and young people - Police and youth justice professionals, health and social services.
  • Anyone who is interested in children's right to play!  

 

Benefits include:

  • Being part of the campaign for greater freedom to play!
  • Regular PlayToday e-bulletins.
  • Invitations to members meetings three times a year with the chance to network, discuss play issues and hear from influential speakers.
  • Reduced fees for conferences, seminars and training offered by Play England and by various partner organisations.
  • Opportunity to stand for Play England's Strategic Advisory Board and later to become a Trustee of Play England when it becomes independent.
  • Opportunity to vote for your candidate to help shape the new Play England in the future.

Organisation membership - small voluntary play organisations

Cost: £15 

Who should join? 

Play England has a long history of organisation membership, and we hope that this will grow significantly in the next few years. With the development of the Free Time Consortium, bringing together local, regional and national organisations to sustain play provision, we have demonstrated the added value of joining together around the Charter for Children's Play. We've kept the membership fee purposely low so its affordable to all - we welcome additional donations if you want to sponsor us further! To apply, download and complete the Membership application form [33KB DOC].

  • Adventure playgrounds and play associations.
  • Playgroups and Toy libraries.
  • Holiday playschemes and after school clubs.
  • All other small voluntary play organisations.

Benefits include:

  • Being part of the campaign for greater freedom to play!
  • Regular PlayToday e-bulletins.
  • Invitations to members meetings three times a year with the chance to network, discuss play issues and hear from influential speakers.
  • Reduced fees for conferences and seminars, including Quality in Playmentor and assessor training.
  • Reduced fees for Quality in Play resources and assessment.
  • Opportunity to stand for Play England's Strategic Advisory Board and later to become a Trustee of the new Play England.
  • Opportunity to vote for your candidate to help shape the new Play England in the future.
  • Your logo on the Play England members' page with a link to your website.

Organisation membership - all others

Cost: £40 

Who should join? 

Play England has a long history of organisation membership, and we hope that this will grow significantly in the next few years.
